Cheh introduces bill to revise solitary confinement policy in DC Jail

Councilmember Cheh Introduces “Inmate Segregation Reduction Act of 2015” The “Inmate Segregation Reduction Act” has a number of provisions that revise the solitary confinement practices at the DC Jail. Chairman Mendelson and Councilmember Cheh Introduce the “Firehouse Parking Regulation Amendment Act of 2015”

Currently, there is a lack of adequate parking available for FEMS personnel at select fire stations in the District. As firefighters are often required to carry around 65 lbs of gear to and from work, the sheer bulk and weight of the gear often prevents the use of public transportation. As there are only a handful of firehouses with this problem, the impact on public parking is expected to be minimal.... more >
