Bill 18-716, the “Open Government is Good Government Act of 2010”

On Monday, July 12, 2010, Councilmember Mary M. Cheh, Chairperson of the Committee on Government Operations and the Environment, will hold a public hearing on Bill 18-716, the “Open Government is Good Government Act of 2010.” This bill would amend the District of Columbia Administrative Procedures Act to require that meetings of government bodies be open to the public, and to establish exemptions, notice requirements, meeting procedures, recording requirements, enforcement mechanisms for that purpose, and training and certification for government employees; and to amend the Advisory Neighborhood Councils Act of 1975 to include additional notice requirements. The public hearing will begin at 10:00 AM in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
The Committee invites the public to testify or to submit written testimony, which will be made a part of the official record. . Individuals will be permitted three (3) minutes for oral presentation. Please submit written statements by Wednesday, July 7th. If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. The record will close at the end of the business day on July 15th, 2010.
